Fife Association of Burns Clubs

George McIntosh is the convenor of Fife Association of Burns Clubs (FABC) which is an independent organisation but supported mainly by the nine Burns Clubs in Fife. It organises the annual Fife Schools Burns Festival at Auchmuty High school, Glenrothes in March. Young people from both Primary and Secondary schools throughout Fife perform Burns songs and music in each of four disciplines, verse speaking, singing, instrumental music, and bagpiping, in each of 5 age groups.  Those placed 1st and 2ndin each group are invited to enter the National Festivals later in the year.

There is expenditure on hiring the school, purchasing certificates and medals, and engraving trophies.  Consequently, FABC seeks help from outside organisations. This year FABC has been fortunate to receive donations from each of St Andrews and Kilrymont Rotary Clubs in addition to support from the Burns clubs. This money helps the young people of Madras College and the local primary schools to attend at the Fife Festival and then if they are successful, the National Competitions.
